8 Understanding the Chakras Workshop

Everything in the Universe is energy.  The Chinese call it chi and refer to the invisible energy channels in the body as meridians.  In India, this life force energy is known as prana and the channels in which it flows are called Nadis.  The nadis connect at special points of intensity known as the chakras.

Chakra means wheel and refers to the circular vortices of energy that are located along 7 different points in the body from the base of the spine to the top of the head, which are responsible for distributing prana.

Optimal function provides the right balance of energy to the body, maintaining our physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological health.  So, it’s essential that our chakras stay open and aligned. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow.

Think of standing on a garden hose and what it does to the flow of water. If we block our emotions such as anger, or don’t speak our truth, we may impede the energy flow.  Blockages can negatively impact our health.

There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head.  Each chakra contains bundles of nerves and is associated with specific organs and glands, as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.

Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow.  Gain an understanding of each chakra and how to keep them open. Learn a specific chakra meditation to keep energy flowing in the body.
